Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton in a dramatic battle with teammate Nico Rosberg for the first time in his career won the Grand Prix of Austria.
Despite starting from sixth position after the final wave of pit stops Rosberg was headed by the intermediate Protocol having a two-second lead on Hamilton. The final part of the race the German was the Supersoft, its main competitor arrives on the race software. Rosberg’s tires wore out faster, and that was a key factor in the struggle of two “Mercedes”.
On the final lap, Hamilton went on the attack on the position of the Rosberg – German, it seems, was willing to sacrifice his second place, but to deprive the opponent of victory. Rosberg aggressive maneuver tried to keep the lead, but damaged the suspension. As a result, Hamilton safely got to the finish, and Rosberg was only fourth, having passed Verstappen and Raikkonen.
The first point in the season, “Manor” brought Pascal Wehrlein. Also in the end zone finished, ricciardo, Grosjean, Sainz Jr, Bottas and Jenson button, whose fifth place was the best result with the Grand Prix Abud Dhabi 2014.
