I hope you are all well. About forty days ago I published a post about Imam Hussain and his revolution. In Islam, if we do anything in the name of God, God puts in the hearts of people love for us – so how well we worked. The more actions people commit in the name of God, the longer will be remembered by his people.
It’s been two thousand years since the advent to our world of the Prophet ISA (peace be upon him!), but the Lord preserved the memory of him, and traced their path is attracting more and more people. Fourteen centuries ago, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him!) also went up against a tyrannical regime – in the name of the Lord. And his name, his memory becomes more alive with each passing day.
Today is the fortieth day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein. Millions of people from Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India to walk 80 km distance from Najaf to Karbala to pay homage to his mausoleum. Today it is the largest pilgrimage procession, a gathering of people in history. Along the way many locals preparing food and feeding the pilgrims, inviting them to stay in their homes. And this at a time when the most important goal for ISIS is to kill these pilgrims.
This year, groups from the United States and Europe arrived at the scene to personally observe the procession and to assess the extent of the pilgrimage movement in Iraq. I hope that next year Russian sociologists also will participate in such studies and send us the results of their analysis.
