Boston company Spike Aerospace is negotiating with the major airlines about organizing flights on “the world’s first supersonic business aircraft” Spike S-512.
Recall that Spike Aerospace, which employs former design engineers Gulfstream, Eclipse and Airbus, airliner designs, able to develop a cruising speed of Mach 1.6 (1,920 km/h) and maximum speed of Mach 1.8 (2160 km/h). This will allow you to get, say, from new York to London in 3-4 hours instead of 6-7 hours, as it is now.
Liner Spike S-512 will be able to take aboard up to 18 passengers. From interior elements is to provide displays instead of Windows, comfortable leather chairs and wood tables, and various entertainment systems.
When designing the aircraft, special attention is paid to security, performance and efficiency. Proprietary technology Quiet Supersonic Flight (QSF), optimization of key structural elements is expected to help alleviate the problem of “supersonic slap”, which will allow the liner to operate over populated areas.
It is expected that the first passengers of Spike S-512 will take on Board in early 2020-ies. The cost of tickets will be “marginally above” the cost of flying first class.
