Demand of Russians for rest in Thailand increased this year. According to the Ministry of tourism of the Kingdom, the number of visitors from Russia in the first five months of this year increased by 17 percent compared to the same period of 2015. The Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) explained the reasons for the popularity of the direction, according to “national news service (NSN). As stated by Vice-President ATOR Vladimir Kantorovich, following the strengthening of the ruble, the Russians began to spend more money on tourism because they fear that the national currency could fall again, which will again increase the price.
In addition, increased interest in holidays in the Kingdom is associated with the closure of Egypt and Turkey, said Kantorovich. “It is clear that Thailand is one of the closest countries in terms of price and quality, so a large number of tourist arrivals has shifted there,” — said the expert.
