European Parmesan will return to Russia

Европейский пармезан вернется в Россию

Russia will resume supplies of cheese and premium meat products from Europe. They will go from the small state of San Marino, not affected by Russia’s food embargo.

As it became known “to the Russian newspaper”, the corresponding agreement the businessmen of the two countries plan to sign today, March 18.

About the upcoming agreement, “the Russian newspaper” reported in the National Association of wholesale-distribution centers (NORC). It is planned that the document will be signed at the International economic forum of States – participants of the CIS. The event will be attended by the Minister of Territorial development and international economic cooperation of the Republic of San Marino Antonella Mularoni.

According to Executive Director of NARC Vladimir Lisala, it is assumed that from the Republic may be supplied a variety of products manufactured in Europe, embargoed. For example, meat products produced by technologies similar to those which produced the famous Spanish ham. But also hard cheeses, including Parmesan.

“On the territory of the Republic there are 24 dairies, many enterprises engaged in the Smoking of meat on special technologies”, – said Vladimir Lishchuk. According to him, at the expense of imports from San Marino will be dislodged from the Russian shelves those products that now come illegally, bypassing the embargo. We are still talking about relatively small volumes. These products are sold in high price category and popular among a narrow circle of consumers, said the source, “RG”.

Two years ago Russia in response to the sanctions banned the import into its territory a number of food goods from the U.S., EU, Canada, Australia and Norway. Last year, bradenburg was extended until the fifth of August 2016.
