Doctors told, we do not recommend vegetarianism

In the program “Morning with Ukraine” with the leading Sergei Zenin and Svetlana Katrenko on the channel “Ukraine” reporters learned about the consequences of vegetarianism for human health.

The fashion for vegetarianism came to Ukraine from the West and so far the experts have not come to the unequivocal decision — useful or harmful to eat only foods of plant origin. The journalists decided to clarify this issue and turned to the experts in the field of nutrition.

Dietician Oksana Skitalinskaia said that a complete rejection of meat and animal products are especially dangerous for pregnant women. According to her, this type of food may provoke poor development of the fetus, and as a result the child is born very weak.

“For pregnant women vegan — unacceptable kind of nutrition. Not better and fructarians. In my practice there was a case when a pregnant woman ate only vegetables and fruit. As a result, the child after birth could not feed himself and poorly developed”, — said Oksana Skitalinskaia with the journalists of the channel “Ukraine”.

Physician angelina frost admitted that vegetarianism is also dangerous for children under 18 years of age. According to her, animal protein is necessary for normal and proper development of the growing organism.

“Sooner or later, a complete lack of meat in the diet will lead to serious anemia. Animal proteins can’t be replaced by any other protein. Children under 18 years must eat meat,” says angelina frost.

But men giving up meat won’t hurt. According to experts, a body of men capable of accumulating a reserve necessary for normal life of nutrients. So the representatives of the stronger sex is not strictly necessary in the daily use of meat.

But despite all contraindications to vegetarianism, there is an exception to the rule. Experts noted that people after 40 years should limit consumption of meat and animal products so as not to overload the digestive system with heavy foods. Therefore, nutritionists advise not to go to extremes when choosing nutrition and to include in the menu a variety of foods.
