Painter Vladimir Nemukhin, a classic of the second wave of Russian avant-garde, died in Moscow on 91-m to year of life. About it to TV channel “Culture” reported his widow.

The artist was born November 12, 1925 in the suburbs. In 1943 he studied at the Moscow art Studio AUCCTU the historical painter Pyotr Sokolov. In 1950-ies Nemukhin worked as a designer, a decorator and painter, until he entered the Moscow state art Institute named after Surikov. From there he was expelled for opposition to the principles of socialist realism.

His first abstract work Nemukhin wrote in 1958. Soon, he created a series of paintings with the playing cards one of the most important in his work.

Nemukhin with several fellow artists were the core of the “Lianozovsky group”, it is called one of the founders of the nonconformist movement in art. The painter actively participated in exhibitions of avant-garde art, including the “bulldozer exhibition” in 1974.

In the 1990s, Nemukhin moved to Germany, and in 2005 returned to Moscow. In 2008 master was made an honorary member of the Academy of arts of Russia.
