Czech President Milos Zeman: Ukraine will not be able to return the Crimea

Президент Чехии Милош Земан: Украина уже не сможет вернуть Крым

The international community is of the opinion that Ukraine will not be able to return to the Crimea, said the President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman.

“Annexation (the so-called reunification of Russia and Crimea – approx. OPINION) constitutes a violation of the international agreements, and this, of course, means that the agreement guaranteeing the territorial integrity of Ukraine was violated,” – said Zeman, reports The New York Times.

The politician said that the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev “made an unforgivable stupidity, transferred Crimea to Ukraine. “Today the world’s politicians recognize that the Crimea be returned to Ukraine”, – said the President of the Czech Republic.

In 2014 Zeman said that Crimea lost to Ukraine: “In the end, he never belonged to Ukraine, except for the period when the then little strange leader of the Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev gave it as a gift to Ukraine”.

After that, the Czech Prime Minister urged Zeman in advance to discuss with the government their applications.

In addition, in August, Zeman said that time has come for Prague to clearly Express its position against sanctions on Russia and join the countries that advocated their abolition. In his opinion, the policy of sanctions against Russia prevents the trust and is a double loss.
