Ukrainian boxer Alexander Gvozdik is one win away from a status of mandatory Challenger for the WBC title at light heavyweight.
Chapter promotion company “Top Rank” Bob Arum agreed with the President of the world Boxing Council Mauricio Sulaiman about the selection process of the battle between Alexander Carnations and American Joe Smith Jr.
The winner of the fight will become the mandatory Challenger to the WBC belt owned by the American Adonis Stevenson. The rest of the titles in the light heavyweight division concentrated in the hands of Russian Sergey Kovalev.
It should be clarified that in case of victory over Smith, a Stud will not be able to immediately qualify for a fight with the champion of the world, because Stevenson already has one mandatory Challenger. Colombian Eleider Alvarez in November of last year broke Isaac Chilemba and became the first in the queue for a title fight.
In the case of obtaining the status of mandatory Challenger Cloves at least half a year will have to wait their turn to fight for the WBC title. A lot can change, if on 29 June Stevenson loses to Thomas Williams, Jr., but such a scenario is unlikely.
