In General, “I, Daniel Blake” makes a strong impression and full of pathos, although some plot twists require explanation. Or a young woman, albeit with two offspring-students, no work, except in a brothel, cannot find. Although maybe the author of this detail is not interesting. His task is to show the tragedy — made with glitter, and reliability matters. Anything can happen, and any state machine is really soulless. The main thing — a good movie to rent.

As giraudy, a couple of years ago rocked the festival with a Frank, heartbreaking gay drama “Stranger by the lake” in which the pastoral idyll of the small homosexual community in the South of France suddenly blew up the appearance of the rapist and murderer, in essence, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. “To stand still” behaves about the same as the predatory character (though the wolves with the sheep, have a natural there too) — but just the opposite: dramatic, suspenseful plot here opens reckless, almost surreal Comedy.

The main character, wandering around a rural backwater Leo, a middle-aged slacker with no visible possessions, and talents, from time to time picking up the phone to ask the source of money and promise as soon as possible to send some text (it is later revealed that this scenario). But most of the first half of the film suffers from outright nonsense: glued to the young man with expressive face, that bothers tutelary old, fan of Pink Floyd, met with brutal girl with a sheep farm and then seduces her. By the time the viewer will understand what provokes all the more crazy escapades of the hero, the inability to get to work on the script, his misadventures will acquire absolutely absurdist in nature and will be filled with tangible hypersexual drive, caricature reflection and constant playing to the deception of the audience expectations. And directing as giraudy, a sudden turn of posed, emphasized art in a sample of wit and recognizable, anyone else not like the style. In the Cannes competition probably, there will be better movies, but to outdo the “Stand still” for unpredictability, playfulness and self-irony will not be easy. If the task of the movie — surprise, as giraudy, copes with her to cheer.

After the stunning, seriously touching “Daniel Blake” had been out at a party to celebrate the opening of giant local film market Marche du Film, one of the world’s largest platforms for financing, marketing and sales of cinema all over the world.
