The Senate of the state of California (USA) passed a resolution to commemorate August 24, 2016 the independence Day of Ukraine, according to Ukraine’s Embassy in the United States.
“The California state Senate in the presence of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly has adopted a resolution to commemorate August 24, 2016 the independence Day of Ukraine. Supported by the upper house of the legislature of California resolution notes the significant contribution of American citizens of Ukrainian descent in the enrichment of the political, economic and cultural heritage of California,” – said in a statement on the official website of the Embassy of Ukraine to the USA on Friday.
According to the Ukrainian Embassy, the resolution also refers to the eternal struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence and the achievement of democratic ideals that remain relevant at the current stage of development of Ukraine”.
“In this regard, the California Senate supports the holding of the celebrations in this state of Day of independence of Ukraine”, – is told in the message. .
It is also noted that after voting for a resolution V. Chaly has held a meeting with acting speaker of the California Senate, Kevin de Leon, in which thanked them for solidarity with Ukraine in such a difficult time, and discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation.
According to the Embassy, participation in the meeting was also attended by the head of the Odessa regional state administration and Mikheil Saakashvili and MP from the faction “Batkivshchyna” Hope Savchenko.
