Bulldog received the award in Cannes

Бульдог получил награду в КаннахThe dog received the award for the best canine role.

Special prize of the Cannes film festival Palme Dog for the best role among dogs awarded to the bulldog Nellie, played in the film by Jim Jarmusch “Paterson”.

Nellie played bulldog Marvin – the dog of the protagonist through which the story takes an unexpected intrigue. Nellie did not live to see the end of filming – she died shortly before the end of work on a painting, and played the role of the other bulldog.

Earlier at a press conference D. Jarmusch named the dog transgender. “Nellie is a girl, but played a dog,” said the Director at a press conference. He also stated that, in his opinion, “Nellie is the main character of the movie, without her the film would not have taken place”.

The Jarmusch film D. “Paterson” is one of the main favorites of the 69-th Cannes film festival. The film tells about a young bus driver, writing poems.

Cannes film festival is taking place these days in France. It will last until may 22. The last competition film “She,” and Paul Verhoeven will be shown on Saturday.
