Sychev was the first photographer who came to the West with footage of everyday life of the Soviet people.
Vladimir Sychev was born in Kazan in 1945, he studied at the Kazan aviation Institute, played the saxophone. After graduation he worked as a radio engineer at Baikonur. In 1965, he became interested in photography, I sold the sax, bought a camera and took street photography.
In 72, the year Vladimir Sychev moved to Moscow, worked as a photographer, hosted at the apartment of one-day exhibitions of nonconformist artists. The subtleties of composition and form, he adopted just the same.
In 1979, Vladimir emigrated to France. He became the first photographer who came to the West with footage of everyday life of the Soviet people. His work of the era of the 60-70-ies of 44 pages published in the magazine “Paris Match”, and then “life”, “Stern” and other international publications. In 80-m to year he was the photographer of the print world. In Paris Sychev met with Helmut Newton, they became friends and met often.
Vladimir Sychev had a successful career. He shot high fashion for Vogue and the international chronicle for Sipa Press, and celebrity portraits. But he always liked live street shooting.
