Bank “Peresvet”, the main shareholder is the Russian Orthodox Church, re-connected to the payment system of the Central Bank “electronic Banking for urgent payments” (BESP). On Monday, October 24, reports RIA Novosti citing a source in banking circles.
“Bank “Peresvet” from October 24 is again connected to BESP” — said the Agency interlocutor.
On 22 October, the Bank of Russia reported that “Peresvet” is experiencing liquidity problems.
A day earlier, media reported that the credit organization was the main account of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church and kept about a third of all funds of the Church administration. On the same day, the Central Bank has appointed the Bank a temporary administration, which will be valid for six months.
On 18 October, the Bank has limited the issuance of Deposit amount up to 100 thousand rubles.
“Peresvet” occupies 41st place in the Russian banking system by assets. More than 49 percent of the shares belongs to the Russian Orthodox Church, another 24 percent the chamber of Commerce.
