“The emphasis was on white smoke, because at the time when shooting used gunpowder that was created on the battlefield in thick white veil. Gunpowder we of course use did not, brought to film five smoke machines and a countless number of smoke bombs, as one General plan took about 60 pieces,” says the Director.
