The study, conducted by American scientists, the results of the tests on the assimilation of new words in healthy children and children with autism are practically the same. In addition, children with autism are well monitor the direction of gaze of the teacher (catch 75% of movements, compared to healthy children correctly determine the direction of view in 78% of cases).

“We found that if we consciously use the direction of gaze, the children with autism catching it themselves, and it allows them to learn new words,” explains Allison Bean, Alawadi, Professor at the Ohio state University.

Most children with autism under certain conditions, it is difficult to establish eye contact with other people. Therefore, working with them, the teachers try to teach the child to look them in the eye. As the authors of the study, based on the results it can be assumed that there is no need to pay so much attention to whether a child is autistic for the opinion of the interlocutor.
