Armenia and Russia are close to signing an Agreement to establish a joint group of forces

Preparations for the signing of the agreement on the establishment of the joint group of forces of the armed forces of Russia and Armenia. This was reported in an interview with reporters Deputy defense Minister Anatoly Antonov, summarizing the results of negotiations of heads of military departments of two countries.

The Minister of defense of Russia General of the army Sergei Shoigu has invited the defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan, to sign a cooperation Agreement in the field of detection and evaluation of radiation, chemical and biological environment in the interests of the United forces of the two countries. And this important document was signed.

“Its implementation will help clearly regulate the procedure for joint action in this field and to timely provide the group with necessary information”, — said Anatoly Antonov.

He stressed that the Russian military Department considers Armenia as its ally and key partner in the Caucasus.

“We successfully cooperate in a bilateral format and within international structures, first of all, the CSTO this year holds the presidency of the Armenian side. The high level of cooperation between military departments allows to solve the current problems of cooperation and respond to what is happening in the region changes,” — said Anatoly Antonov.

According to him, in the military sphere between Russia and Armenia have signed over 50 treaties and agreements, and work on further development of legal and regulatory framework continues.

“Generated and effective mechanisms of decision-making in the field of security, carried out the joint military planning”, — said the Deputy Minister of defence of the Russian Federation.

On the topic related to the Russian military base in Armenia, Anatoly Antonov stressed that it serves as a guarantor of stability in the Caucasus region.

“Its successful functioning is another indicator of the level of our allied relations,” he said.

The Deputy Minister stressed that active work of the Russian-Armenian intergovernmental Commission on issues of Russian military base in Armenia. “Its ordinary meeting held in late July in Yerevan”, — said Anatoly Antonov.

According to him, successfully implemented the joint work plan of the ministries of defense of Armenia and Russia to 2016″.

“It includes more than 40 events, of which 22 have already been implemented,” — said Anatoly Antonov.

He also said that during the meeting of heads of military departments of Russia and Armenia discussed the topic of training for Armed forces of Armenia.

“Currently, 24 universities of the Russian Ministry of defense trained Armenian servicemen 203 free of charge. They all receive a quality education. This year will take on the training of 211 people,” — said the Deputy Minister.

According to estimates of the military leadership of the two countries, there are significant practical impact of the joint activities of operational and combat training.

This year, units of the armed forces of Russia and Armenia involved in the exercises CSTO peacekeeping forces “Inviolable brotherhood-2016” and the exercises of the Collective rapid response forces CSTO “Interaction-2016”. They will be held in Belarus and Russia respectively.

“The Armenian team competed well at the recent international games Army. Their representatives have demonstrated excellence in competitions “Tank biathlon”, “masters of reconnaissance” and “Sniper line”, — said Anatoly Antonov.

In conclusion, the Deputy Minister said that Sergei Shoigu to take this opportunity personally invited the Minister of defense of Armenia at the next meeting of the Council of defense Ministers of States – participants of the CIS which will pass in Moscow in November 2016.
