Argentine cemetery, which attracts crowds of tourists. Photo

Аргентинское кладбище, привлекающее толпы туристов. Фото The story about the amazing sights.

You know what I liked the most in Buenos Aires? You’ll never guess! Cemetery. Beautiful place with its unique history. But very gloomy. Broken coffins, cobweb-covered crypts, rusty doors, sculptures, clearly comes alive after midnight. Recoleta — ready scenery for a Hollywood Thriller. Seriously, there can be removed without resorting to special effects.

Although in the light of day there is life in the cemetery, giving tours, single travelers get a grasp of nameplates. Doing a selfie. And around the cemetery, residential building, shopping centre, hotel. Everything is alive, bright. But here reigns the darkness…

In the beginning of the XVIII century on the then outskirts of Buenos Aires, settled ascetics of the Franciscans. They founded a monastery in 1732 he built the Church of El Pilar and the Recoleta cemetery with her. The area was called Recoleta (Recoleta Spanish is sparse).

In 1822, the monastic order was dissolved and on 17 November of the same year, the monastic lands were turned into the first public cemetery in Buenos Aires. The founders of the cemetery is considered then-Governor Martin Rodriguez and his Minister of government Bernardino Rivadavia.

In 1870-x years because of the epidemic of yellow fever many wealthy residents of Buenos Aires moved from the districts of San Telmo and Montserrat in the Northern part of the city, Recoleta. Since the area of Recoleta has become a prestigious one, the cemetery also became the final resting place for many residents of the upper light

A walk through the cemetery will take half a day. And maybe day. Almost 6 acres of crypts, and all works of art. Without exaggeration, many of the marble sculptures would be the envy of many museums and private collections.

A large part of the crypts are owned by families. They were buried several generations, and the graves in them are just in piles. A strange sight, unusual for us.
