Looks like the immigrants were struck by a bout of nostalgia during the construction of new buildings because they were built in typical island style with bright white walls. The location of the area is also reminiscent of the Cycladic Islands, with very narrow lanes and stepped streets.

Modern Anafiotika is located directly to the North of Plaka — the old historical neighborhood of Athens. The area is located between two churches: the Agios Georgios and Agios Simeon (Church of St. Simeon). Both churches were restored in the nineteenth century by the inhabitants of the quarter in typical Cycladic style.

Anafiotika is one of the most charming areas of the city, and many buildings are decorated with colourful bougainvillea. Despite the constant flow of tourists, here You will find many restaurants and souvenir shops. The modest building still inhabited by descendants of immigrants from the island of Anafi. This place is well worth a visit to take a break from the traditional Athenian attractions and immerse yourself in the story.
