The FBI detained a resident of Massachusetts, Joseph Gargiulo on suspicion of plotting to assassinate President Barack Obama.
As stated in the FBI, a 40-year-old Gargiulo gathered in his house weapons and explosives. In addition, he bought parts to build rifles, and also made statements about wanting to kill the President.
“Gargiulo made comments that he wanted to take the opportunity to kill Obama at the time, as the President was on the Golf course on the island of Martha’s vineyard,” quoted the Fox News channel the message to the FBI.
Investigators believe that the detainee had planned to assassinate in mid-August.
Also during the search in the house of the man found handwritten records with threats against Muslims.
Gargiulo had previously been treated in a psychiatric clinic. The court then banned him from owning weapons and ammunition due to existing mental disorders, however, Gargiulo violated this requirement.
