American football player bequeathed his brain to researchers

American football player, two-time world champion and Olympic champion brandi Chastain wrote in her will that her brain can be used for research. About it on March 3, reported the New York Times.

According to the Testament after the death, soccer players body will be transferred to Boston University, where scientists will identify the effects of regular head impacts the ball and using this material will find ways to diagnose and treat chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or degenerative condition of the brain.

The football player told about the reasons for his decision: “I feel responsible. I want people said, “She really did something for women’s football for the next generation”. Perhaps the research results useful to someone and will help save some children in the future.”

Currently, scientists can’t determine if the players gender predisposition to certain diseases of the brain.

In 1991 and 1999, Chastain team USA won gold at the world championship and the 1996 and 2004 became the winner of the Olympic games. 47-year-old American is currently a coach for kids.
