The United States will continue the former policy towards Ukraine, the supply of lethal weapons is not planned, said the us Ambassador to Russia John Tefft.
In relation to the fact that the United States is going to supply “lethal” weapons to Ukraine, Tefft said that he did not know about any changes to this policy by the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama. According to him, the US President changed his point of view on this issue, RIA Novosti reported.
“We have provided the defensive and some other additional assistance in addition to economic aid, and I think it will so remain during the remainder of the term of the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama,” said the Ambassador in an interview with “Radio Liberty”.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said that Ukraine is counting on help from the United States in the purchase of weapons.
The United States provided military aid to Kiev, but officially only in the form of uniforms and equipment, and not “lethal weapons”. In addition, in the West American instructors are training soldiers of the National guard of Ukraine.
