Most of the animals were rerouted to the rear, however, the elephant did not have the necessary transportation. Therefore, the elephant Vova and his master Ivan Shcherban headed South on foot. During a RAID messersmith Vova became a shelter for his master and gently covered him from the bombing. After Ivan brought the elephant to Yerevan, he was sent to fight. However, soon, the man was ordered to return as Dylan refused to obey someone else. Since then they never parted. Vova helped Ivan with everything they could: hauling construction materials, pushing the car. So it took almost 30 years.
Brown corporal. In 1942 the soldiers of the Anders Army, which was coming from the USSR via Iran under the command of the British allies saw on the road a boy with a little Teddy bear in the bag. They decided to exchange the bear for a few cans of food, chocolate and a pocketknife. The boy was happy with the exchange, and the Syrian brown bear went with the poles. It was called Wojtek. The bear became a mascot of the 22nd transport battalion of the Second Polish corps. Once in Palestine, he even caught the thief. Aboard a British military transport ship, departing from Egypt to Italy, Wojtek already ascended to the rank of corporal in the Second building. It is famous case during the battle of Monte Cassino in 1944. Then poles were cut off from the main forces. It was necessary to quickly unload the car with shells and take them to the mountain for the soldiers. Did Wojtek. After the war he settled in Edinburgh zoo.
Mishka and Mashka at the Brandenburg gate. These camels were used as draft animals during the fighting at Stalingrad to Astrakhan. They went in harness, pulling a gun, drove the wagon and field kitchen. Animals could carry up to 200 kg of cargo and a week without food and water. However, camels are clearly not afraid of bullets. Instead of hiding, they stood tall and waited for their fate. Because of this, in the battle of the river Manych, which kept the defense 771-th artillery regiment, were killed 90% of camels. Over time they have adapted to run on a team of fighters. The most famous was considered camels Mishka and Masha. These animals came to Berlin on the morning of 30 April 1945. In the town of Akhtubinsk in the Astrakhan region is a monument to these brave camels.
