2 November state Duma Deputy, ex-Prosecutor of Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya sent a request to the Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, asking to check not-yet-released film, as some Orthodox activists, including representatives of the public Association “king’s cross”, turned to her with the statement, according to which picture offends their religious sensibilities and is a “threat to national security.” Alexei Uchitel said that the Prosecutor’s office has checked the materials of his new movie “Matilda” and found no violations. In addition, according to the Director, the charges activists with insulting religious feelings are unfounded, as the picture is never seen again.

Poklonski stressed that it is obliged to consider such treatment, so she was initiated to verify the working material for the film according to articles 144 and 146 of the Criminal procedure code. As reported by the film’s Director Alexey Uchitel, the Prosecutor’s office already conducted a number of inspections and no violations identified.
