Sometimes a simple accident can change the course of history.
One accidentally cleared the pebbles from the mud, and this led to the gold rush, the other out of boredom I read the biblical book, and then founded a Christian order. In this review, the accident, the consequences of which influenced the course of history.
Gold rush
In 1848, a California sawmill worker James Marshall (James W. Marschall) brought his wife Mary a few yellowish stones. Then she made the soap and added in a VAT of herbs and minerals. There followed a godsend. After the pebbles “cook”, they bought a bright Shine. It was the first gold nuggets discovered in California (USA). Thus began the gold rush. To California to try his luck went almost 300,000 miners.
The Boston tea party
By the end of the eighteenth century, the British East India company, which was engaged in the tea trade, declared itself almost bankrupt. The fact that the import of tea was necessary to give to the Treasury a tax of 25 percent. This tea could not compete with cheaper drink, marching smuggled from Holland.
To improve the situation, the British Parliament in 1773 abolished the 25 % tax, but instead imposed a duty to the American colonies, to 3 pence in each pound of tea. This measure was purely symbolic and greatly reduced the cost of tea. Besides the metropolis once again wanted to emphasize his dominance over the colony.
In response, the Americans said that taxes they can levy only representatives in Parliament, which they chose themselves. English tea was boycotted. December 16, 1773 the colonists got on the ships of the British crown and threw overboard the whole cargo of tea. This episode was called “Boston tea party”. In response to such insolence, Britain sent troops. The War began for independence.
Fatal wound
In the middle of the sixteenth century, the Spaniard Ignatius de Loyola was involved in the defense of Pamplona. During one of the battles, the noble broke the legs. After several operations, he was prescribed rest. To pass the time, Ignatius asked him to bring the romances, but the library was only literature on biblical subjects. After reading “lives of the saints” and “Jesus Christ” to the Spaniard had a brainwave. He decided to look in the direction of religion and founded the famous order of the Jesuits.
