About 200 countries will reduce the use of greenhouse gases

Около 200 стран сократят использование парниковых газовNearly 200 Nations signed the first legally binding agreement to reduce greenhouse gases, which are used in refrigerators and air conditioners.

Almost 200 countries around the world on 15 October in Rwanda reached an agreement to reduce the use of greenhouse gases used in refrigerators and air conditioners. This was announced by the Minister of natural resources of Rwanda Vincent Biruta.

“Almost 200 Nations signed a legally binding agreement to reduce greenhouse gases, which are used in refrigeration and air conditioning”, – stated in the message.

According to the document, all countries of the world will be divided into three groups with different target date for the reduction of industrial use of HFC gases, which as a greenhouse gas can be 10 000 times more powerful than carbon dioxide.

Developed countries, which include most European countries and the United States will be required to reduce the use of hydrofluorocarbon gases by 10% by 2019. Two groups of developing countries will first freeze the use of these gases to the 2024 or 2028 (India, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and the Gulf countries), and then begin to gradually reduce their use.

Recall, November 4, 2016 shall enter into force yet another global agreement on climate change, the Paris agreement, which will regulate the measures for reducing emissions of carbon dioxide.
