Legendary cabaret celebrates the anniversary.
In Paris, at the foot of Montmartre October 6, 1889, received its first visitors cabaret night “Moulin Rouge”.
This year entrepreneurs Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler bought a dilapidated dance hall “the White Queen” in the deprived Paris district of Pigalle. They have completely refurbished the premises and erected on the roof a bright red windmill. So there is a new cabaret “Moulin Rouge” continues to entertain Parisians and guests of the capital for over 100 years and is famous throughout the world for his provocative Kan Kan and lively atmosphere.
Cabaret attracted a diverse crowd, including such famous people of art as post-impressionist artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, which went to “Moulin Rouge” every day, and even painted the inside of cabaret. Dancers “Moulin Rouge” and themselves become celebrities. For example, Mistinguet — at one time the highest paid dancer in the world whose legs were insured for 500,000 francs.
1. In 1900 the owners of the “Moulin Rouge” has acquired a huge wooden elephant and put him into the garden cabaret. They installed a spiral staircase leading to the belly of the elephant, which took place in private dances.
