The name of the heir of the king of Thailand will be known at a special meeting of Parliament on Thursday.
The successor of the king of Thailand Adulyadej of Pumipon is likely to be his only son, Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.
“His prospective successor, crown Prince 63-year-old Maha Vajiralongkorn, has fulfilled a more prominent role in Royal ceremonial and public appearances in recent years, but he does not enjoy the same level of commitment as his father”, – stated in the message.
As reported, on Thursday, 13 October, died the king of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej. 88-year-old monarch has been ill for more than two years, but the deterioration occurred a week ago.
King Bhumibol has not appeared in public in the course of the year due to deteriorating health, but his death will almost certainly be a huge shock for most Thais.
He’s in for a long time enjoyed the love and respect of broad segments of the population and was viewed as a figure of stability after decades of coups and political upheavals.
King Bhumibol was the Thai throne in 1946.
