Losses of the Russian economy from cybercrime Sberbank is estimated at 600 billion rubles. On Friday, June 10, said the Chairman of Board of Bank Stanislav Kuznetsov, reports “Interfax”.
“In 2015-2016 to service of the savings Bank recorded a growth in the number of cyber attacks on the Russian financial sector” — said Kuznetsov. If in 2015 there were 52 critical systems of the Bank incident, now marked 57 such attacks, he added.
Last year the savings Bank has recorded 32.5 thousand attempts of illegal withdrawal of money for five billion rubles. “The number of incidents in the field of information security over the past two years has increased 12 times,” — said Deputy Chairman of Sberbank. Last year, Russia recorded a 43 thousand of cybercrime, this figure is understated, he said.
Russia falls behind many other countries in the fight against cybercrime due to weak legislation, said Kuznetsov. “Also we do not prepare judges to work with the theme of cybercrime, no investigators with appropriate expertise”, — he stressed.
In 2015, Russia ranked second in the world in the number of information leaks in the financial sector according to the version of InfoWatch.
In late April, the global network of financial messages SWIFT has warned its customers about the recent cyber incidents, which were sent fraudulent messages.
In the autumn of last year, attackers unleashed on Sberbank, VTB and Bank of Moscow the strongest DDoS attack. For the termination of attacks they demanded bitcoins.
