Chinese fighter made “dangerous” maneuver to intercept the American plane in international airspace over the East China sea. About it reports Reuters, citing two Pentagon officials.
The incident involved Chinese fighter J-10 and the scout, a US air force RC-135. According to the source, the Chinese plane was flying at high speed, there was a risk of collision.
In may, the Pentagon announced that two Chinese fighter jets flew at a distance of about 15 meters from the aircraft EP-3 over the South China sea. In Washington felt that this was a violation of the agreement between the governments of the two countries signed last year.
Earlier this week, Secretary of state John Kerry urged China not to take unilateral action “provocative actions,” referring to the deployment of air defense in the South China sea.
This area is of interest to China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei and Vietnam. Most tense is the situation around the Scarborough reef, also South of the Spratly archipelago, which is believed rich in oil and gas.
Washington declares that as a guarantor of security in the region and holding back the forces of China to establish an identification zone air defense in the region. A similar system launched by China in 2013 in the East China sea, caused the condemnation of the US and Japan.
