Berlin state library will return the Potsdam Masonic Lodge books stolen by the Nazis.
Many of the books were published in the XVIII century. In this box was one of the largest Masonic libraries in Germany up until the Nazis banned this organization. The Lodge was reopened in 1991.
The head of the Potsdam Lodge “Teutonia zur Weisheit Matthias Bon said that these books tell the history of the masons. The owners will return about 400 books, magazines and other publications stolen by the Nazis in the 30-ies.
Hermann Parzinger, head of the Foundation, the managing Director of the Berlin museums and the state library, said that his organization intends to continue to look for books and works of art stolen by the Nazis and return them to their rightful owners.
