Moscow. June 3. INTERFAX – Representatives of traditional religious communities of Russia expressed concern about the massive practice of abortion in the country.
“Russia in the number of abortions in absolute and in relative terms is one of the first places in the world – the number of forcibly aborted in the womb of lives according to various estimates approaching a million a year, or even exceeds one million. These terrible figures speak of the pain in our hearts and encourage us to make every effort to protect unborn babies,” reads the statement of the Interreligious Council of Russia, which publishes the communication service of the Synodal Department for external Church relations.
The authors of the document believe that “human life begins from the moment of conception, which corresponds to the views of our religious traditions and modern science”.
“Those who denies the right to life of the unborn child, go against God, conscience and moral laws. The destruction of defenceless life hidden in the womb is a grave sin. No considerations of their own comfort, benefit and false fears cannot justify the sin of catholictv, which inevitably leads to negative physiological, moral and spiritual consequences of all accomplices of this crime,” – said in a statement.
As noted religious personalities of the child before birth is often cynically referred to as “product of conception”, denied him the right to be considered a human being,” and giving the operation to get rid of the baby conceived as free and readily available services funded from state grants, “in fact, justify abortion in the eyes of society, equating them to the treatment of disease.”
“We believe that abortion can not be done at the expense of taxpayers, including believers, are the principal opponents of the violent interruption of a new human life. We support the proposal for the withdrawal of payment for the abortion from the funds of Compulsory medical insurance”, – the document says.
The authors are convinced that the state must implement an effective plan of counter-abortion “and as one of the priority directions of national policy to allocate funding for the prevention of this scourge”, to assist women who have decided to leave the baby, and single mothers who are in difficult life situations.
“Objectives of family support, formulating effective population policies are matters of national security and a precondition for our country to be strong, prosperous, morally strong and spiritually rich. Urge the faithful and all citizens of our country and the state to combine efforts in a common cause to save children’s lives,” – said in a statement.
In the Russian Interreligious Council is composed of leaders and representatives of Orthodoxy, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism.
