Doctors told as women to avoid heart disease

But researchers note that also these diseases is one of the leading causes of death among women, especially older than 50 years — the average age at which menopause occurs. Since this period, usually associated with an increase in the number of fat deposits in the body, it also leads to the accumulation of fat in the heart, which is a potential factor increasing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

According to Shari Targum (Shari Targum), cardiologist of the Department for control of food and drugs U.S. Food and Drug Administration — FDA), the risk of heart disease increases with age at all, and especially in women in postmenopause.

Note that according to the Centers for control and prevention of diseases (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), USA, every 4th American dies from cardiovascular disease.

Professionals the FDA has published recommendations for women that specify a number of preventive measures can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, namely:

– control the occurrence of risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. In the presence of such conditions should immediately consult with the physician regarding the administration of appropriate drug therapy;

– stop Smoking;

– to control a normal body weight and regular physical exercises, choosing a sport individually;

– follow a healthy diet, rich in vegetables, fruits and whole grain foods, limiting the consumption of saturated fat and sweetened beverages;

– to consult with your doctor about whether use of drugs, blood thinners, noting that daily use of low-dose aspirin does not fit all and can have side effects;

– know the symptoms of heart attack in women may differ from that in men. For women: shortness of breath, nausea, aching or a feeling of squeezing in your chest, arms, neck, jaw or stomach.
