UEFA’s official website announced the dream team in the history of the European Championships in football.
Initially getting in the symbolic team claimed the 50 best players in the history of the continent. Each applicant had to meet at least two of the four criteria (performance in the semi-finals of the European championship, getting in the symbolic team of the tournament, the top scorer title of the tournament or the authorship of the historical goals).
Symbolic team of the European Championships of all times and peoples looks like this:
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Italy)
Defenders: Philipp Lahm, Franz Beckenbauer (both Germany), Carles Puyol (Spain), Paolo Maldini (Italy)
Midfielders: Andres Iniesta (Spain), Andrea Pirlo (Italy), Zinedine Zidane (France)
Forwards: Thierry Henry (France), Marco van Basten (Netherlands), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal).
In the symbolic team five players have never won the European championship Buffon, Lahm, Maldini, Pirlo and Ronaldo. Are the titular players of the national team of Spain – Puyol and Iniesta won the Euro twice (2008 and 2012).
